Senior Accountant for US & Canadian Clients (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support a portfolio of North American clients on a long‑term contract basis. The role is fully remote and focuses on overseeing accounting and financial reporting for multiple businesses, while guiding a team of bookkeepers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounting and financial reporting across several client accounts.
• Review and oversee bookkeepers’ work to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Delegate transactional accounting tasks and provide guidance as needed.
• Handle general ledger activities and month‑end close processes.
• Perform and review bank, credit‑card, and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
• Identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and ensure timely resolution.
• Support catch‑up and clean‑up accounting projects.
• Prepare documentation for external CPAs and tax professionals.
• Assist with payroll‑related accounting and reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate internal financial reporting and confidential records.
• Review AI‑driven accounting workflows and ensure output accuracy.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior accountant handling multiple client accounts.
• Background working with U.S. or Canadian companies.
• Comfortable in fast‑paced, technology‑driven startup or small‑business environments.
• Ability to manage and mentor bookkeepers.
• Strong analytical mindset for identifying trends and issues.
