Bilingual Medical Virtual Assistant (English-Spanish)

About the role

A fully remote, independent contractor position for a bilingual (English and Spanish) Medical Virtual Assistant who supports US healthcare clients. The role connects patients with their care teams, coordinates appointments, manages medical information and handles patient-facing phone support, depending on the assigned client. It is full-time, paid USD $6 per hour, and requires working US business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Handle inbound and outbound calls with patients, providers and insurers, answering inquiries professionally and accurately
• Schedule, confirm and coordinate patient appointments and keep accurate calendars and records
• Access and update patient information in EMR/EHR systems, keeping it accurate and confidential
• Assist with insurance eligibility verification, coverage questions and patient information validation
• Support patient intake, admissions and front-desk operations
• Act as a communication link between patients and healthcare professionals
• Perform data entry, email management, record maintenance and documentation
• Follow healthcare procedures, patient privacy standards and HIPAA requirements

Required profile

• Fluent English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication
• Customer service, call center, BPO, virtual assistance or healthcare administration experience
• Strong phone-handling, organization, attention to detail and computer literacy
• Ability to work independently and remotely, with flexibility for US time zones
• Preferred: 1-2 years supporting US healthcare accounts, familiarity with medical terminology or EMR/EHR platforms, and a healthcare-related degree

Required skills

• Google Workspace, Microsoft Office or similar business applications
• Preferred: EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or NextGen
