AI and Transport Digital Transformation Consultant

About the role

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) seeks a consultant to advance its Transport Division’s AI and digital transformation agenda across Latin America and the Caribbean. You will work with internal teams and external partners to embed emerging digital technologies into transport planning, operations, and financing.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of AI and digital transformation initiatives within the Transport Division.
• Design and deliver training sessions, workshops, and practical guidance to raise AI and digital literacy among staff.
• Identify, assess, and disseminate emerging technologies, best practices, and use cases such as intelligent transport systems, digital twins, and mobility data platforms.
• Produce knowledge products—including sector studies, case studies, analytical reports, briefing notes, and internal communications—on AI and digital transformation in transport.
• Identify opportunities to integrate AI and digital components into sovereign‑guaranteed loans, technical cooperation operations, and advisory activities.
• Assist with the administration, monitoring, and reporting of digital transformation projects across the division.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of AI, digital transformation, and transport sector dynamics.
• Proven experience designing and delivering training or capacity‑building activities.
• Excellent analytical and writing skills for producing technical and policy documents.
• Experience supporting the integration of digital solutions into development finance or technical cooperation programmes.
• Ability to collaborate with internal leaders, operational teams, and external stakeholders.
