Técnico de Alimentos – Control de Calidad y Seguridad

About the role

The Food Technician will support the Country Office in Managua by ensuring food quality and safety standards are met across the supply chain. Reporting to the Deputy Country Director and the Regional Food Quality and Safety Officer, the role contributes to WFP’s mission of delivering safe food to vulnerable populations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in analytical work and implementation of WFP’s corporate food quality and safety (FSQA) approach.
• Monitor and verify compliance with food safety policies, standards and procedures from program design to final distribution.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to manage food quality incidents and corrective actions.
• Support data collection, reporting and documentation related to food safety performance.
• Participate in audits, inspections and training activities to promote best practices.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in food science, nutrition, or a related field.
• Experience in food quality assurance or safety monitoring, preferably in humanitarian or supply‑chain contexts.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work with diverse teams.
• Fluency in Spanish and good command of English.

Required skills

• Knowledge of food safety and quality assurance principles (FSQA).
