Staff Civil Engineer (Managua, Nicaragua)

About the role

EMI Nicaragua is seeking a Staff Civil Engineer to join its engineering team in Managua. The role combines engineering design, project leadership and mentorship of junior engineers while supporting ministry‑focused construction projects across Nicaragua and the wider Latin America region.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the development of civil engineering designs and preliminary construction details for diverse projects.
• Ensure design work meets project schedules, specifications and quality standards.
• Prepare sketches, production drawings and cost estimates for clients and multidisciplinary partners.
• Communicate design solutions to engineers, quantity surveyors, architects, planners and other stakeholders.
• Travel domestically and regionally to supervise site activities and provide technical support.
• Participate in EMI’s spiritual and professional discipleship programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (professional license preferred).
• 3‑5 years of experience in civil engineering design.
• Willingness to relocate to Managua and commit to up to 12 months of full‑time Spanish language study.
• Strong leadership ability to manage multi‑national, multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Proven track record of maintaining project schedules.

Required skills

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.
• Proficiency in Civil3D.
