Medical Insurance Verification Specialist / Registered Nurse (Orthopedics)

About the role

We are looking for a cheery, upbeat Registered Nurse to act as an Insurance Verification Specialist and Medical Receptionist for an Orthopedics, Pain Medicine, and PM&R practice. The role blends clinical expertise with high‑volume call handling, patient conversion, and full‑cycle insurance verification.

Key responsibilities

• Manage heavy inbound and outbound patient calls, including new‑patient inquiries, clinical triage follow‑ups, missed opportunities, and re‑engagement of inactive patients.
• Convert patient inquiries into booked appointments, maintaining diligent follow‑up until conversion is achieved.
• Execute the complete insurance verification process: confirm active coverage, interpret plan details, calculate patient financial responsibility (deductibles, copays, coinsurance, OOP maximums) and communicate costs clearly over the phone.
• Navigate commercial plans (HMO/PPO, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare, and Workers’ Compensation/PIP as required.
• Support administrative tasks such as managing provider calendars, tracking documentation, building patient rapport, and assisting business development and referral outreach.

Required profile

• Valid, active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Proven experience handling high‑volume inbound and outbound calls in a fast‑paced U.S. medical office.
• Deep operational knowledge of insurance verification beyond basic eligibility checks.
• Sales‑oriented mindset with experience in phone‑based patient conversion or customer engagement.
• Outstanding English phone presence with a warm, energetic, professional tone.
• Minimum one year of hands‑on experience using eClinicalWorks (eCW) electronic health record system.
