Cook / Server – Healthcare Facility

About the role

We are looking for a reliable Cook/Server to manage the kitchen operations in a long‑term care facility when the Dietary Supervisor is absent. The role involves preparing nutritious meals for residents, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment, and supporting the dietary team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain the kitchen and cooking area in a safe, orderly, clean and sanitary manner.
• Prepare tasty meals in large quantities, following menus and portion‑control guides.
• Accurately prepare special diets, pureed foods and record food temperatures.
• Assist with serving meals, clean cooking areas and serving carts, and ensure cleaning schedules are followed.
• Maintain sanitizer solutions, present food appealingly, and report resident care concerns to administration.
• Supervise staff in the Dietary Supervisor’s absence and participate in orientation and ongoing training of dietary personnel.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of cooking experience in a hospital or long‑term care setting.
• Ability to read technical procedures, recipes and apply basic math (fractions, percentages, ratios).
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to interpret written or oral instructions.
• Must obtain and maintain a ServSafe certificate and remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 lb and perform repetitive kitchen tasks.
