Remote Spanish-English Medical Interpreter (OPI and VRI)

About the role

Multilingual Interpreters and Translators, a language services company based in Winter Haven, Florida, is recruiting full-time remote Spanish-English medical interpreters. The role covers Over-the-Phone Interpreting (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI), supporting healthcare professionals and Spanish-speaking patients in a variety of clinical settings.

Key responsibilities

• Perform real-time medical interpretation by phone and video.
• Clarify medical terminology so that diagnoses, treatment plans, consent forms and other healthcare information are understood by all parties.
• Follow industry standards and company protocols, and adhere to confidentiality and data protection requirements.
• Document sessions as needed and collaborate with coordinators and supervisors.
• Take part in ongoing training through web-based platforms and maintain a professional, patient-centered approach.

Required profile

• Strong medical interpretation skills in Spanish-English, able to work via OPI and VRI.
• Solid knowledge of medical terminology and experience with simultaneous interpretation in healthcare contexts.
• Translation skills for medical documents and patient information when needed.
• Excellent verbal communication in English and Spanish, with clear pronunciation, active listening and cultural sensitivity.
• Familiarity with remote work tools, stable internet and the technology used for phone and video interpreting.
• Strong ethics, respect for confidentiality and HIPAA or equivalent privacy regulations, and a professional demeanor under pressure.
• A high school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience, interpreter certification or formal training in medical or community interpreting is highly beneficial.
