About the role

The company Gildan is seeking a Supervisor of Health, Safety and Environment to manage the operation and maintenance of its wastewater treatment plant and oversee facility improvement projects. The role reports to the Coordinator of Environment, Health and Safety and involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and internal safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the maintenance program for the wastewater treatment plant (PTAR), including scheduling, coordination and supervision of all maintenance activities.
• Prepare and submit PTAR and solid waste reports to regulatory agencies (MARENA and MITRAB).
• Inspect facility structures, propose improvements and supervise building upgrade works to meet established requirements.
• Ensure proper waste management and handling, including recycling.
• Coordinate monthly potable water parameter analysis and daily pH and chlorine testing.
• Evaluate suppliers and present assessments to the Purchasing department.
• Investigate workplace or travel incidents and report findings.
• Monitor the department’s budget and ensure compliance.
• Implement spill control procedures and maintain perimeter area conditions.
• Lead meetings with the Joint Commission on Hygiene and Workplace Safety and follow up on agreements.
• Adhere to the Safety and Health Management System (CAM-HSN-001) and perform any additional tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Required profile

• Degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• At least 1 year of experience in a similar position.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety management systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment plant operation and maintenance.
• Experience with water quality testing (pH, chlorine).
• Understanding of construction and facility improvement processes.
• Ability to conduct supplier evaluations.
