Plumbing & Sprinkler Systems Estimator

About the role

A pre-construction team is looking for an analytical, highly detailed Plumbing & Sprinkler Systems Estimator. You will be the key technical specialist responsible for interpreting specifications and carrying out complete quantity takeoffs of hydro-sanitary and fire protection systems, combining engineering judgment with experience reading complex blueprints and using digital takeoff software.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret specifications and read complex blueprints for plumbing and sprinkler systems
• Perform component-based material take-offs from shop drawings and prepare drawings from supplied plans and sketches
• Calculate project time and budget estimates based on materials and resources, and manage the department's day-to-day workflow and project priorities
• Maintain a system for recurring or standard projects so finished work meets customer and project requirements

Required profile

• Upper-intermediate to proficient English
• Verifiable engineering or architectural background and 2+ years of construction estimating experience, with hands-on knowledge of plumbing and sprinkler systems
• Hydraulic fundamentals, blueprint symbology and scales, and ability to draft, layout and calculate
• Attention to detail, organization, communication and prioritization skills

Required skills

• Advanced takeoff software such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift or On-Screen Takeoff (PlanSwift is desirable)
• Excel for material lists; AutoCAD navigation, with Revit/BIM familiarity a plus
• Knowledge of domestic water networks, hydronic equipment, drainage, wet/dry/pre-action/deluge sprinkler systems, fire mains, pumping systems, piping materials and fixtures
