Make Ready Engineer – OSP Fiber Networks

About the role

The Make Ready Engineer (MRE) Joint Use Specialist will work closely with engineers, technicians, and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of OSP fiber and copper network projects. This role combines technical precision with collaborative planning, field walkouts, and design validation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field walkouts of OSP network infrastructure following industry standards and regulations.
• Determine optimal routing for OSP networks, considering existing infrastructure, terrain, and accessibility.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align designs with project requirements and timelines.
• Participate in project planning meetings to understand scope and objectives.
• Create project documentation, including design plans, cost estimates, and schedules.
• Identify potential design issues and propose solutions to ensure network reliability.
• Review and approve designs produced by other designers and contractors.
• Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulations related to OSP design.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, telecommunications, or a related field.
• Understanding of NESC Standards.
• 4+ years of experience in OSP design, focusing on fiber optic and copper networks.
• Knowledge of Make Ready Engineering, PLA, and relevant industry standards.
