Associate Data Specialist

About the role
The Associate Data Specialist will support the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Managua by developing and maintaining databases, data collection systems, and analytics tools that enhance statistical efficiency and quality. This role collaborates with internal data engineers, scientists, and external UN agencies and NGOs to ensure reliable data-driven decision‑making.
Key responsibilities
- Implement databases, data collection systems and analytics solutions to improve statistical efficiency.
- Analyze trends and patterns using statistical methods to identify key variables in structured data sources.
- Acquire, clean and maintain data from primary and secondary sources.
- Develop reports, dashboards and visualisations to summarise findings for management.
- Track progress of department data initiatives and report on outcomes.
- Support project tasks, assist with data collection and initial analysis, and flag unresolved issues.
- Produce data‑related outputs such as reports or newsletters and prepare stakeholder communication materials.
Required profile
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external counterparts, including UN agencies and NGOs.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to data quality and statistical rigor.
