Medical Insurance Verification Specialist (RN) – Orthopedics

About the role

We are looking for an upbeat Registered Nurse to serve as a Medical Insurance Verification Specialist for an Orthopedics, Pain Medicine and PM&R practice. The role combines patient phone support, appointment scheduling and full‑cycle insurance verification while delivering a warm, professional experience.

Key responsibilities

• Handle high‑volume inbound and outbound patient calls, including new‑patient inquiries, clinical triage follow‑ups and re‑engagement of inactive patients.
• Convert patient inquiries into scheduled appointments, maintaining consistent follow‑up until the booking is confirmed.
• Perform comprehensive insurance verification: confirm active coverage, interpret plan details, calculate patient financial responsibility (deductibles, copays, coinsurance, out‑of‑pocket maximums) and communicate costs clearly.
• Navigate commercial plans (HMO/PPO, Aetna, Cigna, Humana), Medicare and Workers’ Compensation/PIP as required.
• Support administrative tasks such as managing provider calendars, tracking documentation and assisting with business development and referral outreach.

Required profile

• Active, valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Proven experience managing high‑volume phone calls in a fast‑paced U.S. medical office.
• Deep understanding of insurance verification beyond basic eligibility checks.
• Sales‑oriented mindset with experience in phone‑based patient conversion or customer engagement.
• Clear, confident English phone presence with a warm, energetic customer‑service tone.

Required skills

• Minimum 1 year of hands‑on experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW).

What we offer

• Full‑time contractor position (40 hours/week).
• Starting pay rate of $6 per hour, dependent on skillset and experience.
• Schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑5 pm EST.
