Senior Python Engineer (temporary contract)

About the role

You’ll own backend services for an operational dashboard, building and maintaining modules such as events, data export, and resource‑status widgets on Google Cloud. The role is backend‑focused, collaborating with an application lead on API design and SSO/RBAC integration, under a 4‑month contractor model with required overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain backend services and REST APIs for various application modules.
• Develop CSV and PDF data export capabilities.
• Integrate services with the platform’s SSO and role‑based access control (RBAC) model.
• Ensure reliable data access across relational databases and data‑warehouse platforms such as BigQuery and Cloud SQL.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests to guarantee quality and reliability.
• Support defect resolution, hardening, and acceptance testing phases.
• Collaborate with application and technical leads to align implementations with API standards and overall architecture.
• Participate in code reviews and follow documented development and ticket‑based delivery processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 6+ years of professional backend development experience using Python.
• Strong hands‑on experience deploying services on Google Cloud Platform.
• Excellent English communication skills for collaboration with U.S.‑based teams.
